Anyone may visit the library and use its resources, including access to the Internet, for no charge. Borrowing from the library is free for Cornwall residents. Identification with a current Cornwall address is required as proof of residency to obtain a membership card. You must have your own library card with you to sign out materials from the library.
A membership fee is charged for borrowing privileges for people who do not reside within the City of Cornwall. To obtain an exemption from the non-resident membership fee, proof of payment of property taxes to the City of Cornwall within the current year, or a current rental or lease agreement for property within the City of Cornwall must be provided.
Non-resident membership fees-single membership
- 3 months @ $10.00
- 6 months @ $20.00
- 12 months @ $30.00
Non-resident membership fee - family membership
- 3 months @ $20.00
- 6 months @ $40.00
- 12 months @ $60.00
A family membership includes immediate family members living at the same address.
Children under the age of 14 may have their own cards and borrowing privileges with the authorization of a parent or legal guardian. Students attending school full-time in Cornwall, including those from St. Lawrence College are eligible for a free membership with proof of enrollment (single membership only - membership limited to the duration of enrollment). Residents of Akwesasne (ON, QC, and NY) are eligible for a free card
Businesses and institutions, including schools, may obtain an institutional membership.
Please bring valid ID when signing up for a new card.
- Driver's License, Ontario Photo Card, Passport, Service Ontario Print out, Official Government Document
- If ID does not have an address, we will also require any of the following (Utility bill, Rental lease, bank statement, insurance papers, etc.)
- Children's cards (Birth certificate, passport, student ID cards, report cards)
