Back in the early 1970s, Mark Van Dusen was just starting out as a young journalist with local newspaper The Standard-Freeholder. Van Dusen went on to have a successful media career in large Ottawa newsrooms before working for the Government of Canada as a media advisor on major issues such as human rights, food safety, and refugees.
Now retired, Van Dusen is excited to have published his first novel, How to Stitch a Chicken, a compassionate, joyful and enduring retelling of one family’s reckless reboot as first-time farmers. The learn from the animals in surprising and perilous ways. Readers will be inspired by the overcoming of odds and the regeneration of the environment in their own backyard.
